Everyone, including our students, needs a little more structure in their lives. Just like you, students find it hard to work when there is no structure in their learning environment. Why not start every day with a warm-up? This would give our students the structure and routine they crave.

  • This PowerPoint is interactive, and it has activities that can be used as daily warm-ups.
  • Every day when students come into class, show them a task on your interactive whiteboard.
  • The various tasks are linked to literacy and mathematics and include activities such as:
  • Word of the day, punctuation puzzles, code-cracking games, and writing ideas.

Learners can write their answers in a warm-up journal, on their own dry-erase boards, or they can work together to finish the activities.

The activities in this teaching tool vary in how hard they are and how long it takes to finish them. Change the heading to red or move the finished slides to the end of the presentation to make sure you don't do the same thing twice.

It enhances learning by providing a better understanding of the topic as well as motivating students.
