Solon urged DepEd to Increase Teachers' PERA from P2,000 to P8,000

Rep. Alfred delos Santos has filed a bill that seeks to increase the personal economic relief allowance of public school teachers.

House Bill 6239 will raise teachers’ PERA from P2,000 to P8,000.

“The State, through this increase, will be able to demonstrate its full commitment in enhancing and uplifting the living and working conditions of its employees, particularly in the field of education,” delos Santos said in his explanatory note.

He added that the government has to ensure that education gets the highest priority when it comes to budgetary requirements.

The lawmaker stressed that giving public school teachers ample enumeration will help attract and retain top-tier teaching professionals.
